The 17th BFAME Championships organised by the Gujarat Bridge Federation commenced today at Hotel Hyatt, Ahmedabad, India. The Championships will continue till Tuesday, 11th June, 2013.
The championships were inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Geet Sethi, a multiple times World Billiard Champion and World Snooker Master. Accompanying him on the dais were Secretary, BFAME Mr. Azwer ul-Haque of Pakistan; Mr. N.R. Kirubakara Moorthy, the President of Bridge Federation of India and Vice Presidents of BFAME; Mr. Lalith Ganlath, President, Bridge Federation of Sri Lanka; Mr. Sunit Chokshi the organising Secretary of the event and Mr. Ton Kooijman, the Chief Tournament Director from World Bridge Federation. The inaugural function started with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by all the dignitaries on the dais.
Mr. Ton Kooijman, then took the oath of sportsman spirit on behalf of the tournament directors and technical team, whereas Mrs. Rita Choksi took it on behalf of all the participating players.
