Jurica Carić awarded by the Croatian Olympic Committee

The Croatian Olympic Committee annually announces the best Croatian athletes in individual, pair and team competitions for men and women and gives the “Marija Ljubek” award for life’s work to prominent athletes and officials. This year, the award went to Zlatko Žagmeštar, the 1966 world - best handball player, and Morana Paliković Gruden, president of the Croatian ice skating federation for 20 years and deputy president of the Croatian Olympic committee. Bridge player Jurica Carić won the award for the first time, mainly for being almost continuously a member of the Croatian open team for 58 years. The Croatian Prime Minister presented the award, congratulating only Carić individually. A Gala dinner for nearly 400 guests followed the ceremony.

On 4th February in Dubrovnik after the NBO Seminar, EBL President Eric Laurant and Polish Bridge Union President Marek Michałowski signed agreements to jointly organise the European Youth Teams Championships in Wrocław in July 2024 and the European Transnational Championships in Poznań in June/July 2025.
European Transnational Championships 2025

The European Bridge League and the Polish Bridge Union announce the European Transnational Championships 2025 will be held from June 21 to July 5 at the Poznań International Fair in Poland. The venue, opposite the main railway station, is highly accessible. The championships are divided into two weeks, with the first focusing on Mixed and Senior categories and the second on Open and Women categories. Poznań, an old and vibrant city, offers a mix of history, culture and modernity. June and July bring pleasant weather, and the city is well - connected for travel. Poznań previously hosted the event in 2011. The 2025 championships aim to build on past legacies, are open globally, and celebrate international competition and friendship in the bridge community. All are invited to join in Poznań in 2025.
