The thirteenth Northwest Five Provinces Bridge Championship of the "Qinghua Cup" in 2008 opened at the Xiaodao Hotel in Xining, Qinghai Province on May 6. The competition was jointly hosted by Qinghai Sports Bureau, Qinghai Qinghua Mining, Coal and Metallurgy Group Co., Ltd. and Qinghai Bridge Association. The competition consists of open group, women's group competition and open group, women's group doubles. Participating in the open group team are Shaanxi, Qinghai First Team, Second Team, Ningxia, Gansu, Xinjiang, Xi'an, Lanzhou, Xining First Team, Second Team, Yinchuan, Urumqi, Ningxia Shizuishan, Golmud, Qinghai Qinghua Team, and specially invited teams. Eighteen teams including Hong Kong team, Guangxi team and "Hesheng Fund" Yunnan team; participating in the women's group team are Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Urumqi, Lanzhou, Xi'an, Xining and other eight teams. The preliminaries of the open group team are played in a single-loop manner, playing a total of 17 rounds, 12 sets of cards in each round, ranking the preliminaries with cumulative VP, and the top four leading the semifinals. The semi-finals and finals were divided into two quarters, playing a total of 24 decks. The IMP score was used to determine the final ranking. The women's group played in a double-loop manner, playing a total of 14 rounds with 12 decks in each round, ranked by cumulative VP. Last place; Mitchell's shift system will be used for the preliminaries of the doubles and Howell's shift system will be used for the finals. All competitions will end on May 11.
