The thirteenth Northwest Five Provinces Bridge Championship of the "Qinghua Cup" in 2008 was held at Xiaodao Hotel, Xining City, Qinghai Province from May 6-11. The competition was jointly hosted by Qinghai Sports Bureau, Qinghai Qinghua Mining, Coal and Metallurgy Group Co., Ltd. and Qinghai Bridge Association. The competition consists of open group, women's group competition and open group, women's group doubles. In the open group competition with eighteen teams participating, the first round of the round-robin "Hundred Funds" Yunnan team led the way with 323VP. Urumqi team ranked second with 300VP, while Ningxia and Shaanxi ranked 295VP Third and fourth place; Yunnan team selected Ningxia team as opponent in the semi-finals, Shaanxi team and Urumqi team fought. Both teams in the rankings won both. In the final, Ningxia team defeated Shaanxi team 60: 25IMP in the final two years later. To win the championship again, the Urumqi team won the Yunnan team with a score of 74:53 IMP and won the third place. The Yunnan team ranked fourth. In the women's group team, eight teams participated in the double loop. In the first cycle, the Xi'an team topped the list with 135VP exceeding the second place by 31VP, while the second cycle stayed behind with only 115VP. The Gansu team made great efforts in the future. In the second cycle, they got 146VP, so the two teams accumulated 250VP. After calculating the IMP rate, Xi'an 1.65, Gansu 1.45, Gansu regretfully lost the championship. In the finals of the open group doubles with 26 pairs of players, Li Linchang and Qin Weiwu of Qinghai, You Julong and Wu Yongjiang of Urumqi, Xiong Dunbang of Qinghai, Yang Shengxi won the top three of the North and South groups, Ma Yibing and Wang Hai of Xining. Yan Fei and Zhan Changfeng of Xinjiang, Xia Kun and Li Qiang of Yinchuan won the top three in the East and West groups. In the women's doubles final, 8 pairs of players participated in the single championship system. Wang Yan from Xi'an, Guo Xiaoni and Fu Xia from Urumqi, Zhang Yan and Gao Yanrong from Shaanxi won the top three.
A lively closing ceremony was held after the game. The Secretary General of Qinghai Provincial Sports Federation, the CEO of the sponsoring enterprise and the leaders of the Provincial Bridge Association attended the meeting and gave awards to the winning team. The next competition is expected to be held in Lanzhou in September 2009.
