Notice of China Bridge Association on holding the 2020-2021 National Men's Bridge Team Selection Competition

The selection methods and relevant requirements of the National Men ’s Bridge Team in 2020-2021 are notified as follows:


1. The current national men's bridge team selection competition will produce the 2020-2021 national men's bridge team. The current cycle will be selected until the end of 2021 or early 2022 to produce a new national men's bridge team.


2. Selection methods


 (1) Adopt the selection method of the whole team.


(2) The final selected players must reach at least 50% appearance rate in the round robin and each knockout.


(3) The winning team in the qualifying finals is the National Men ’s Bridge One Team (hereinafter referred to as the National First Team), and the final team is the National Men ’s Bridge Second Team (hereinafter referred to as the National Second Team). The two teams together form the National Men's Bridge Team (hereinafter referred to as the National Men's Team).


3. Right of representation


(1) National First Team


1. Represent the national team in the world championships and intercontinental competitions during the cycle.


2. Representing a national team to participate in other international bridge events during the cycle.


(2) National Second Team


1. Represent the national second team to participate in the World or Intercontinental Championships and other international bridge events that are allowed to participate in the cycle.


2. Priority to make up: When the first team of the country cannot participate in the world championships, intercontinental games and other international competitions during the period, the second team of the country has the right to make up.


3. Have the right to challenge to become the national men's bridge team.


(3) Annual basic tasks


1. Win the top 8 of the World Championships;


2. Won the top 16 in the World Championships, and won the Intercontinental Championships.


(4) The national team wins the championship or runner-up of the world championship, automatically reserves the national team qualification for one session, and does not need to participate in the next round of trials. The trial competition continued, and the first name produced was the second national team. The subsequent comparison method still applies in the next national team cycle.


(5) Right to challenge


When the national first team fails to complete the basic tasks in the first year of the cycle, the national second team can challenge the national first team at the end of the first year. In the Challenge, each player's appearance rate must reach 50% to be selected for the national men's team. The winning team of the challenge is the new national first team and the losing team is the national second team.


4. Eligibility


(1) Team members of the China Bridge Association will participate in the team. Each member unit is only allowed to register one team.


(2) Athletes must meet the following conditions:


1. Citizens of the People's Republic of China;


2. Individual member of China Bridge Association;


3. Have not participated in the World Championships and Intercontinental Championships on behalf of other countries and regions in the last 3 years.


 (3) The qualification score of the whole team must be at least 200 points (including 200 points). Qualification points exceeding 300 points (including 300 points) are free of entry fees. Teams with qualification points exceeding 200 points and less than 300 points will be charged an entry fee of 100 yuan per qualification point according to the difference from 300 points.


(4) If a member of the registered team is selected into the national mixed team, the adjustment of the participating players is allowed, and the qualification points are calculated according to the readjusted lineup.

V. Selection and promotion


(1) The national first team or second team in the last cycle (at least keep the original team of 4 or more players who have reached 50% of the appearance rate):


1. When completing the basic tasks of the national men's team, directly enter the quarter-finals of the trial.


2. When entering the semi-finals of the World Championships, directly enter the semi-finals of the trial.


(2) Other registration teams


Teams with a qualification score of more than 900 points and ranked in the top 2 of all registered teams can directly enter the quarter-finals of the trial.


(3) The team directly entering the semi-finals of the trial shall not exceed one team, and the team directly entering the quarter-finals of the trial shall not exceed two teams. In the event of exceeding the quota, priority will be given to the national men ’s team in the last cycle.


6. Qualification points


(1) Qualification points can only be calculated if the athlete's appearance rate reaches 50% of the entire match. Qualification points are not calculated if the appearance rate is insufficient.


(2) Calculating qualification points competition and calculation standards


1. National Bridge A club league finals: 100 in 1st place, 70 in 2nd place, 50 in 3rd place, 40 in 4th place, 32 in 5th and 6th places, 26 in 7th and 8th places. The ranking after 7th place is based on the cumulative ranking results after the second leg of the league.


2. National bridge team competition: Grade A: 70 in 1st place, 50 in 2nd place, 35 in 3rd place, 30 in 4th place, 24 in 5th and 6th place.


3. National Bridge Club Championship Class A: 1st place 70, 2nd place 50, 3rd place 35, 4th place 30, 5th, 6th place 24, 7th, 8th place 20.


4. National Bridge Championship Open Team: 70 in 1st place, 50 in 2nd place, 35 in 3rd place, 30 in 4th place, 20 in 5-8 place, 10 in 9-16 place.


5. The 4th National Intellectual Games Bridge Competition Men's Team Competition: 1st place 70, 2nd place 50, 3rd place 35, 4th place 30, 5th, 6th place 24, 7th, 8th place 20.


(3) Qualification points shall be calculated in full for athletes' achievements in 2019, and 80% for achievements in 2018.


(4) When calculating athlete qualification points, only the 3 best results achieved by the athlete in 2018 plus the 3 best results achieved in 2019 are counted.


(5) When calculating the qualification scores of the whole team, the 4 athletes with the least qualification scores in the team shall be fully qualified, and the other athletes shall be calculated at 60%.


(6) If the foreign aid participates in the competition included in the calculation of the team's scores, when the foreign aid appearance rate is less than 50%, the other players will calculate the qualification points in full. When the foreign aid appearance rate reaches 50% and less than 100%, the other players will be regarded as the original qualification 70% of the points are calculated as effective qualification points. When the foreign aid appearance rate reaches 100%, other players are calculated as 50% of the original qualification points.


VII. Selection methods


(1) The competition is divided into two stages: the first stage is a round-robin game, and the second stage is a knockout game.


(2) The preliminaries determine the competition rounds and the number of pairs in each round depending on the registration situation.


(3) 96 decks in each round of the elimination round, including 96 decks in the final.


(4) When there is no team directly entering the semi-finals: The top 3 teams in the overall ranking (according to the national men ’s team in the previous cycle, other teams directly entering the quarter-finals, and the preliminary rounds) are entitled to be ranked 5th in the overall ranking. The eight teams choose the quarter-final opponents; at the same time, the team ranked first overall has the right to choose the semi-final opponents in the two groups after the quarter-finals.


(5) When there are teams directly entering the semi-finals: The top 2 teams in the overall ranking (according to the teams directly entering the quarter-finals and the preliminary rounds) have the right to select 1/4 of the teams in the overall ranking in turn. 4 opponents in the finals; the team directly entering the semi-finals at the same time has the right to choose the semi-final opponents in the 2 groups after the quarter-finals.


8. Abstain after being selected


A sports team or athlete who abstains for no reason after being selected into the national men ’s team shall:


(1) Abstaining of the whole team: The unit member will be disqualified from participating in the national bridge competition for 1 year, and the unit member will be disqualified from participating in the next national team selection competition.


(2) Athlete's personal abstention: The athlete is disqualified from participating in the national bridge competition for one year, and the member of the unit is disqualified from participating in the next national team trial.


9. Funding


(1) The expenses for training, competitions and visits incurred during the period of the first and second national teams shall be borne by the members of the unit.


(2) The member of the unit selected for the national first team shall provide the team with guarantee funds of 800,000 yuan for participating in international competitions and training within the period. If training and participation in international competitions are organized as planned during the cycle, the deposit will be returned to the relevant unit members at the end of the cycle.


10. Adjustment of National Team Athletes


(1) The adjustment of the athletes of the national first and second teams within the period shall be decided by the members of the affiliated units.


(2) Athlete adjustment needs to be supplemented from athletes who meet the qualification score higher than 300 points or represent the national men's team in the past 5 years.


(3) The adjustment of athletes shall be reported to the China Bridge Association within one week after the completion of the adjustment.


11. National Team Management


(1) The Chinese Bridge Association and the National First Team clarify the relevant responsibilities and rights through an agreement.


(2) The national team is managed by the bridge organization affiliated with the sports team under the guidance of the Chinese Bridge Association.


(3) The daily training and competition activities of the national team are the responsibility of the unit. The unit must report to the China Bridge Association before the specified time each year for the annual training and competition plan.


(4) The selection of coaches for the national team shall be determined by the members of the unit where the selected team is located according to procedures. The determination process of the selection of coaches needs to be filed with the China Bridge Association, and the selection of coaches needs to be announced on the China Bridge Network.


(5) The members of the China Bridge Association unit shall be selected into the national men's team, and the members of the unit shall guarantee the treatment of athletes.


(6) The elected national team must abide by the "National Bridge Team Management Code", complete the national team's competition tasks in the cycle, and cooperate with the national team's related activities.


(7) Elected athletes (coachs) of the national team should abide by the discipline of the national team and maintain the image of the national team.


(8) The China Bridge Association has the right to evaluate the national team.

12. Registration


(1) Online registration will be conducted through the special topic of the "China National Bridge Team Selection Tournament 2020-2021" of China Bridge. Please strictly follow the online registration requirements to fill in the registration content. Each participating unit must complete the online registration by December 25 and send the registration form to the China Bridge Association at the same time.


(2) The registration form needs to be stamped with the official seal of the member of the unit. When registering, the details of each athlete ’s qualification points should be indicated for review, and the number of rooms reserved for the team and contact methods should be indicated.


(3) After registration, the China Bridge Association will review the registration qualifications and confirm the participating teams.

13. Registration and Leadership Meeting


Each team will report to Building No. 7 at Jiangsu Building (No. 88, Andingmenwai Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, diagonally opposite to the north gate of Ditan Stadium) before 19:30 on January 3. The team leader will be held on January 3 at 20 : 00 is held in the Ziyu Hall on the third floor. All team leaders are invited to attend on time.


14. Fees


(1) Each team shall take care of its own expenses.


(2) Accommodation Hotel
