Cancellation of the 2020 World Bridge Championships

It is with regret that the WBF announces that, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the World Youth Bridge Team Championships and the World Bridge Games, both to be held in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy, respectively from 31st July to 9th August and from 21st August to 4th September have been cancelled.

Following a meeting of the WBF Management Committee held on 25th May 2020, a decision has been taken with regard to the WBF Calendar for the next four years as follows:

  • 2021 – World Youth Bridge Team Championships and World Bridge Team Championships & Transnational Open Teams Championship
  • 2022 – World Youth Transnational Bridge Championships and World Bridge Games
  • 2023 – World Youth Bridge Team Championships and World Bridge Teams Championship & Transnational Open Teams Championship
  • 2024 – World Youth Transnational Bridge Championships and World Bridge Series

The WBF is grateful to the City of Salsomaggiore Terme and the Italian Bridge Federation for their cooperation and support and wishes to inform you that Salsomaggiore will refund the deposit already paid through ADAST for the hotel accommodation.

The WBF shares its concern and best wishes for players, officials, families and colleagues, and for everyone who has been affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
