It's the longest day of the calendar year and one Charlottesville organization is using the extra time to make some money for the Alzheimer's Association.
The Jefferson Bridge Association is one of 150 bridge groups across the country participating in a dawn-to-dusk bridge-playing event.
Nan Massie, the bridge association's manager, says the event's success is beyond her wildest dreams.
"We set a goal of $5,000 for our club to raise five thousand during this the longest day. We have blown that number away - I dare say we will more than double it," Massie said.
There is a silent auction Friday evening followed by dinner then there more bridge playing until 10 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join.
