On January 8, 2017, the “Bond Cup” Bridge Invitational Tournament of the Southwest University of Science and Technology was held at the school gymnasium. The competition was sponsored by the school, organized by the school union, the school sports committee, the board of directors' office, and the college of science. It attracted more than 70 athletes from 12 bridge teams from Mianyang, Deyang, and Guangyuan to gather together to learn from the bridge skills.

On January 8, 2017, the “Bond Cup” Bridge Invitational Tournament of the Southwest University of Science and Technology was held at the school gymnasium. The competition was sponsored by the school, organized by the school union, the school sports committee, the board of directors' office, and the college of science. It attracted more than 70 athletes from 12 bridge teams from Mianyang, Deyang, and Guangyuan to gather together to learn from the bridge skills.
After five rounds of the 60-card Swiss Sweepstakes competition, our college undergraduate bridge team won the championship. The Mianyang Bridge Association team and the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics won the runner-up and second runner-up. China National Nuclear Corporation 821 Plant, China Gas Turbine Research Institute, China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center, Southwest University of Science and Technology, and Sichuan Changhong Holding Group Co., Ltd. have won four to eight teams. Xu Jiannan, deputy chief engineer of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wu Yingjian, deputy chief of the Changhong Group, Zhao Zhiqiang, chairman of the Mianyang Lao Association, and Li Zhiming, Secretary-General of the Mianyang Bridge Association, presented awards to the winners.
