English players continue to excel at World Bridge Series

28 SEP 2018 | INTERNATIONALS

English players have continued the great run of results at the World Bridge Series in Orlando. This is already some of the best results by England in the event in many years, with hopefully more to come.

Andrew Robson, Alexander Allfrey, Tom Paske & Ed Jones have reached the semi-finals of the Rosenblum Cup, the Open World Teams Championship. They defeated the 'Frogs' team, which included Tony Forrester, by 39 IMPs in the quarter-final. They will play the Lavazza team in Friday's semi-final

In the Women's event, the McConnell Cup, the Baker team - featuring Sally Brock & Fiona Brown - lead their semi-final by 32 IMPs with 28 boards still to play. In the other semi-final, Nicola Smith's team - which includes Yvonne Wiseman, and Scotland's Paula Leslie - trail, but by the retrievable margin of 21 IMPs.
