Holland & Owen retain Great Northern Swiss Pairs

John Holland & Clive Owen have retained the Great Northern Swiss Pairs title in a closely fought contest in Leeds.

John & Clive, who also won the event together in 2005, finished on 163 VPs, four ahead of Robin Jepson & Alan Brosgill - who were runners-up in 2017 too. Third with 158 VPs were Joe Fawcett & Alastair Gidman, and continuing the duplication of 2017's results, Tom Dessain & Tugrul Kaban were again fourth - this time tied with Kath Nelson & Alan Nelson on 155 VPs.

The Improvers' Pairs was won by Ralph Thompson & Sheila Dodd with 73 VPs from five matches. Kathy Pearson & Andrew Pearson were second with 66, and Neil Macdonald & Lorraine Macdonald were third with 64.
