The 48th European Cup Bridge Championship was held in Warsaw, Poland on August 12, 2006. A total of 33 teams participated in the open group competition, with 22 teams and 16 teams participating in the women's and senior groups respectively. The Open Group's competition system is a 33-round big single round robin. There are many bridges in Europe, including the Italian team in recent years, as well as Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom and many other old teams.
