The “Yunnan Red” Cup of the Yunnan Provincial Bridge Association Second League was held on November 24-26, 2006 at the Yunnan Winery in Mile County. This is the first time in the past ten years that Yunnan Province has resumed the second division. In this competition, there were 110 players from 19 teams from Kunming, Zhaotong, Dongchuan, Fumin, Qujing and Honghe. The competition was held in two phases. The first phase used the Swiss shift to prelimin (using computer licensing) for six rounds and 16 decks per round. The top eight players in the Swiss shift entered the second stage and played a 32-card knockout round. After three days of fierce competition, the Zhaotong team, the vitality team, the Luliang team, and the provincial health department team were awarded four places for the promotion of the first-class team.
