On June 4th, the Taiya Bridge Federation held a general election in Bandung, Indonesia. Chen Zelan, deputy secretary general of the China Bridge Association, was elected as the first vice chairman for a four-year term.
Chen Zelan was appointed by the chairman of the Taiya Bridge Federation and Chen Fengqi of Thailand. Earlier, Wang Yinan, the former president of the Chinese Chess Institute, held this position. Chen Zelan is 48 years old and is a member of the original Beijing Bridge team.
The 45th Taiya Bridge Championship kicked off on June 4th. The Chinese men’s and women’s teams won the championship and defeated their respective New Zealand men’s and Thai women’s teams 20 to 10 and 22 to 8 respectively in the first round.
