At 9 am on September 20th, the opening ceremony of the 2008-2009 Hubei University Bridge Tour (second stop) was held at the Nanhu Gymnasium of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. The two-day tour officially kicked off. This event was sponsored by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, undertook by the Hubei Provincial University Sports Association, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and co-organized by the Hubei Provincial Bridge Association and the Chess and Card Branch of the Hubei Provincial College Students Sports Association. Zhang Hongxiang, former deputy governor of Hubei Province and current Vice Chairman of China Bridge Association, Yao Zhongkai, Deputy Secretary-General of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, Hu Yongji, Vice Chairman of Hubei Bridge Association, Qin Zhizhang, Assistant Inspector of Hubei Provincial Department of Education, and Yang Zhiguang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law attended Opening ceremony. A total of 20 teams from nine universities including Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Wuhan University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan Huaxia University participated in the competition.
After Zhang Hongxiang, vice chairman of China Bridge Association, gave a speech at the opening ceremony, Hu Yongji, vice chairman of Hubei Bridge Association, announced the official start of the competition. Competition items include open group team competition, women's team competition and double competition. After two days of intense mental fighting and intellectual fighting, the winner was finally decided: Wuhan University of Technology won the championship in the open team competition, and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Wuhan Huaxia University won the second and third places in the open group. . In the women's team competition, Wuhan Huaxia College won the championship, and Wuhan University of Technology and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law won the second and third place in the women's team. Zhongnan University of Economics and Law players Hu Zhidong, Yang Nailong, Lu Kechang and Hong Yunhui won the North-South and East-West champions in the double match respectively.
