Notice on the selection of the 2021 Shanghai Bridge U20 Team

From May 1st to 5th, 2021, the National Bridge Youth Team Tournament will be held in Yantai, Shandong Province. The tournament will consist of U15, U20, U25, and U25 women's teams. The selection methods and relevant requirements for the 2021 Shanghai Bridge Youth Team are hereby notified as follows, please follow them.

 1. Selection method

The whole team selection method is adopted in the unit of district, school and social organization.

2. Qualification for selection

(1) The members of the unit will form a team to participate, and each unit is only allowed to sign up for one team.

(2) Contestants born after January 1, 2001.

(3) Individual members of the Chinese Bridge Association who are not registered in other provinces or cities with Shanghai household registration or student registration.

(4) Each unit and athlete participating in the selection must meet one of the following conditions

1. Win the top three teams in one of the following events in 2018, 2019, 2020:

(1) The top three in the National Bridge Youth Team U20 Championship;

(2) The top three in the men's first group team and double competition in the National College Bridge Championships;

(3) The top three teams in the National Bridge Championships for Middle School Students in the high school group and double competitions;

(4) The top three in the U20 team competition in the Bridge Competition of the First National Youth Intellectual Sports Conference;

(5) The top three in the U18 team competition of the "Wentianxia Cup" National Bridge Open Championship;

(6) 2019 and 2020 "Yan'an Cup" Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Bridge Team Competition, the top three in the high school group;

(7) Top three in the high school group team competition in the Shanghai Youth Sports Elite Series Bridge Competition.

2. Won the top three in the U20 team and doubles at the World Bridge Championships.

3. Won the U20 team championship of the Asia Pacific Bridge Championship.

3. Selection time and method

(1) The selection competition is tentatively scheduled to be held from late March to early April 2021 (held on weekends).

(2) The competition method will be determined according to the registration situation. Please pay attention to the competition rules of the selection competition.

4. Representation and time limit

Represent the Shanghai U20 bridge team to participate in national events in the 2021 annual cycle, and the time limit will end at the end of 2021.

V. Waiver

If a sports team or athlete who forms a team to participate in the selection abstains without reason after being selected, then:

(1) Whole team abstaining: The unit will be disqualified from participating in the Shanghai bridge competition for one year, and the team will be disqualified to participate in the next group trial. The vacancy will be replaced by the subsequent ranking, and so on.

(2) Athlete’s personal abstention: the athlete will be disqualified from participating in the Shanghai bridge competition for one year, as well as any qualifications for the next Shanghai team.

6. Athlete increase and adjustment

If the selected team adjusts or adds candidates, no more than 2, and must be approved by the Shanghai Bridge Association.

7. Team management

(1) After being selected for the Shanghai team, when participating in national competitions, the Shanghai Bridge Association will manage them uniformly.

(2) For the training and management after representing the Shanghai team, the responsible unit must formulate a detailed training plan and management method, and report it to the Shanghai Bridge Association for approval and filing.

(3) The selected athletes must win glory for Shanghai and have a sense of honor and mission. Have excellent sportsmanship and professional ethics, and strictly abide by the requirements and regulations of the game discipline.

(4) The expenses for participating in the national competition shall be borne by the Shanghai Bridge Association in accordance with relevant regulations and standards, and other expenses shall be borne by the participating teams themselves.

8. Registration

(1) All participating teams must complete the registration on March 26, 2021. Overdue registration will be considered as abstention. Applicants must provide proof of identity and age (identity card, household registration book or proof of student status, one of the three is sufficient), otherwise the registration will be deemed invalid.

(2) After registration, the registration form (see Attachment 1 for details), affixed with the official seal (district, school, social organization), will be mailed before March 26, 2021 (subject to the postmark on the date of mailing, and those who are overdue will be treated as abandonment). 9. Once registered, the relevant units are deemed to agree and abide by the relevant provisions of this notice.
