Notice on Holding the 2023 Shanghai Men's Bridge Team Selection Tournament

The selection and establishment methods and relevant requirements for the 2023 Shanghai Men's Bridge Team are hereby notified as follows:

1、 Representative qualification

1. The 2023 Shanghai men's bridge team will be selected and represent Shanghai in the bridge competition of the 5th National Intelligent Games. The representative qualification for the 2023 National Bridge Team Competition will end on December 31, 2023.

If the selected team can win the national bridge team championship or runner up in 2023, or enter the top three in the bridge competition of the 5th National Intelligent Games, priority will be given to the team's qualification to represent Shanghai in the bridge competition of the 15th National Games and to represent Shanghai in the national bridge team competition from 2024 to 2025.

2、 Candidacy conditions

（1） Team requirements

Group member units of the Shanghai Bridge Association can form teams to participate, and each member unit is limited to one team.

（2） Athletes must meet the following conditions

1. Citizens of the People's Republic of China, in good health.

2. Each team is allowed to have two non Shanghai athletes.

3. Non Shanghai athletes must ensure that the selected team member is registered in Shanghai in 2023. If a non Shanghai national athlete fails to register in Shanghai in 2023 after being selected, the athlete's team will lose the representative qualification of the Shanghai team and be notified.

4. Athletes must be individual members of the China Bridge Association, and at least 4 athletes from each team must have a technical level of one star lifelong master or above.

5. Athletes must possess good sportsmanship and professional ethics. Strictly abide by the requirements and regulations of the competition discipline and anti doping work, and abide by the contract with integrity. When participating in national competitions, consciously maintain the image of Shanghai and comply with the various regulations of the Shanghai sports delegation.

3、 Selection method

（1） Selection method

Adopting a 6-person team selection method. Each team must have 6 athletes, 1 team leader, and 1 coach.

（2） Competition method

1. Sort according to the total master scores of all athletes in each team from the China Bridge Association, and select the top 9 teams to participate in the selection competition. Teams ranked 1 to 3 will directly advance to the second stage of the competition. If the number of registered teams is 4 or less, all teams will directly advance to the second stage of the competition; If the number of registered teams exceeds 4 and is less than 9, the specific competition method will be determined separately.

2. Phase 1

(1) The teams ranked 4th to 9th in the total master points of the entire team will first participate in a single round robin, with 16 deck cards in each round.

(2) The top 4 players in the round robin enter knockout stage 1, with 48 cards in the competition. The first ranked team in the round robin has the right to choose opponents from the third or fourth ranked teams and enter the knockout stage 1-1; The other two teams entered the knockout stage 1-2.

(3) The team that wins the knockout rounds 1-1 and 1-2 enters knockout round 2, where 64 cards are played. The winning team entered the second stage of the game.

3. Phase 2

(1) Knockout round 3, 96 deck games. The team ranked first in total master points has the right to choose opponents from the teams ranked second and third in total master points and the winning team in knockout stage 2, and enter knockout stage 3-1; The other two teams entered the knockout stage 3-2.

(2) The team that wins the knockout rounds 3-1 and 3-2 enters knockout round 4, where 128 cards are played. The winning team has obtained the qualification to represent Shanghai in the 5th National Intelligent Games Bridge Competition and the 2023 National Bridge Team Competition.

(3) If the registered team consists of three, the team ranked second and third in the total master points of the entire team will undergo a knockout round of three, with 96 deck cards in the competition. The winning team in knockout stage 3 will compete with the team ranked first in the master's total score in knockout stage 4, with 128 deck cards. The winning team has obtained the qualification to represent Shanghai in the 5th National Intelligent Games Bridge Competition and the 2023 National Bridge Team Competition.

（3） Exit rate requirements

Each team must ensure that each athlete reaches a 50% appearance rate in each knockout match, otherwise the team's eligibility to participate will be cancelled.

（4） Unjustified Waiver

If the team waives without reason, the membership unit of the team will be disqualified from participating in the 2022-2023 Shanghai Bridge Competition, and all team members will be disqualified from participating in all selection matches of the Shanghai Bridge Team, and a notice will be given.

2. If an athlete waives without reason, their eligibility to participate in the 2022-2023 Shanghai Bridge Competition will be cancelled, and their eligibility to participate in all selection events of the Shanghai Bridge Team will be cancelled, and a notice will be given.

（5） Selected Team Management

1. Selected teams are not allowed to adjust their athletes on their own. If adjustments are necessary due to uncontrollable reasons, the athletes who are adjusted to join the team must meet the selection criteria and be approved by the Shanghai Chess and Card Sports Management Center and the Shanghai Bridge Association.

2. The selected team is managed by the Shanghai Chess and Card Sports Management Center and the Shanghai Bridge Association, and must consciously abide by the relevant systems and regulations of the Shanghai Chess and Card Sports Management Center and the Shanghai Bridge Association.

3. The selected teams will be uniformly arranged for training and participation by the Shanghai Chess and Card Sports Management Center and the Shanghai Bridge Association. Athletes must participate in all training sessions and comply with the Shanghai Bridge Team Management Regulations.

If the above regulations and requirements are violated, the representative qualification of the team will be cancelled.

4、 Selection time and location

Time: Planned to be held from March to April 2022

(The specific time depends on the epidemic situation, and the supplementary notice shall prevail)

5、 Registration method

（1） Registration deadline: March 11, 2022

（2） Each participating team must fill in the registration information in the special event of China Bridge Network.
