The General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China recently announced the "Regulations for the Bridge Competition of the 14th National Games of the People's Republic of China"


The 14th National Games of the People's Republic of China, mass events, bridge competitions will be held in various provinces nationwide from March to June 2021


Preliminaries will be held in July-August 2021


Finals to be held in August-September 2021

1. Time and place


(1) Trials: March to June, all over the country


(2) Preliminaries: July-August, location to be determined


(3) Finals: August-September, location to be determined


2. Competition items


(1) Men's team competition (open group, amateur group)


(2) Women's Team Competition


(3) Mixed team competition


(4) Doubles (open group, amateur group)


3. Participation method


(1) The registration shall be in units of provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and Industry Sports Associations.


(2) The competition is divided into three stages: grassroots trials, preliminaries and finals.


(3) The grassroots selection competitions are held by the provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), the Sports Bureau of the Corps, and the sports associations of various industries in their own regions and industries with the theme of "I want to go to the National Games".


(4) In the preliminaries, each province, autonomous region, municipality directly under the Central Government, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and the Industry Sports Association will have 1 entry quota in each group of each sub-event, which will be generated by the grassroots selection competition. The preliminaries are organized by the Chinese Bridge Association.


(5) 8 teams in each group in the team competition and 12 pairs in each group in the double competition will participate in the finals. The provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) hosting the finals and Shaanxi Province, the host of the National Games, can apply for 1 team (pair) for each group to directly participate in the finals on the premise of qualified athletes. Athletes from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who meet the entry requirements can apply for a pair of athletes to directly participate in the double competition open group. Qualification places for other finals are based on the results of the preliminaries. Teams (pairs) qualified for direct participation in the finals do not participate in the preliminaries.


(6) For the team competition, each team can apply for 4-6 athletes. In the finals, a maximum of one pair of athletes is allowed to be adjusted based on the preliminaries, provided the athletes are qualified. No change of players is allowed in doubles.


4. Athlete Qualification and Review


(1) Athlete qualifications


1. Citizens of the People's Republic of China.


2. It has been verified by the medical department at or above the county level to be in good health.


3. Athletes must be at least 25 years old (born before May 1, 1996), and athletes participating in the preliminaries and finals must not be over 70 years old (born after May 1, 1951).


4. Athletes shall participate in the competition on behalf of their household registration, long-term residence or employment unit (settle down and have been employed for more than 1 year). The long-term residence is based on the residence certificate or social security payment record (full 1 year), and the employer is based on the labor contract, income and tax certificate, social security certificate, etc.


5. From 2019 to 2021, the full-time players of the Class A clubs and the bridge masters of the Chinese Bridge Association registered with the Chinese Bridge Association are not allowed to participate in the amateur group of the men's team competition and the amateur group of the double competition. Among them, there shall be no less than 2 athletes of the above types in each team of the men's team open group, and not less than 1 person in the double competition open group.


6. The representative qualifications of all athletes participating in the bridge competition of the National Games are not restricted by the signed registration agreement for national bridge athletes.


7. An athlete must sign up with the same identity and represent the same group. Cross-group competition is prohibited. Athletes participating in the preliminaries and finals are only allowed to represent the same unit. Mixed team competitions and double competitions are not allowed.


8. In order to enhance the mass sports exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Bridge Associations are welcome to organize athletes to sign up to directly participate in the open group of the double competition finals.


(2) Qualification review


In accordance with the relevant provisions of the qualification examination in the "General Rules for the 14th Games of the People's Republic of China Mass Events Regulations".


5. Competition method


(1) Selection competitions: determined by the provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and Industry Sports Associations. It can be done online and offline. Each unit is responsible for the qualification review of athletes participating in the region and industry. All trials must establish a special event on the China Bridge Network, publish the list of participants, competition regulations and competition information, and accept social supervision.


(2) Preliminaries: Projects (groups) with less than 8 teams participating in the team competition and less than 12 pairs in the double competition will not organize the preliminary competition. The method of competition is determined according to the registration situation.


(3) Final


1. Team competition: There are 2 stages of competition.


(1) The first stage: round robin


A single cycle, a total of 7 rounds, ranked by accumulated VP points. The top 4 will enter the knockout stage of the second stage, and the remaining teams will be ranked 5-8 according to the results of the first stage.


(2) Stage 2: Knockout


Semifinals: divided into 3 quarters. The first-place team in the round-robin has the right to choose an opponent from the third and fourth-place teams. The winning team enters the final, and the losing team enters the 3-4 play-off.


Finals and 3-4 play-offs: divided into 3 quarters.


2. Doubles: Full Howell rotation is used.


6. Admission ranking and awards


(1) The top eight finalists will be admitted and awarded certificates, while the top three will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. If the number of participating teams is not enough for the reward quota, the reward will be based on the actual number of participating teams.


(2) The competition will be awarded the master points of the Chinese Bridge Association according to the "Technical Grade Standards for Chinese Bridge Association Members".


(3) Certificates of participation will be issued to all athletes participating in the finals.


7. Registration and Registration


(1) Registration


1. Each unit must report the registration status of the preliminaries to the Chinese Bridge Association 30 days before the start of the preliminaries.


2. Each unit must report the registration status of the final team to the Chinese Bridge Association 30 days before the start of the final. The official list of entries will be announced 25 days before the start of the finals, and no further adjustments are allowed after the list is announced.

(2) Registration


1. Each team in the preliminaries should report 1-2 days before the start of the game, and leave the meeting 1 day after the end of the game.


2. The teams in the finals should report 2 days before the start of the competition and leave the meeting 1 day after the competition ends.


8. Technical Officers


(1) The preliminaries and finals referees, technical representatives and staff are organized by the Chinese Bridge Association.


(2) The technical officials of the preliminaries shall report 2 days before the start of the competition and leave the meeting 1 day after the end of the competition. The technical officials of the finals will report 4 days before the start of the competition and leave the meeting 1 day after the competition ends. Those who need to report in advance due to pre-match preparations must report to the State Sports General Administration and the Chinese Bridge Association for approval.


(3) During the period from the official registration of the technical officials to the time they leave the conference, the Organizing Committee will pay for their accommodation, travel, transportation in the city, work subsidies and other related expenses.


9. Doping and gender screening


The gender, age and doping of athletes shall be checked with reference to the "General Rules of the 14th Games of the People's Republic of China for Mass Events and Activities".


X. Epidemic prevention and control


Strictly implement the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, and adhere to "whoever hosts, who is responsible". According to the actual situation of the venue, the level of epidemic prevention and control and the specific requirements of the prevention and control work, combined with the characteristics of the project, the risk of epidemic prevention and control will be scientifically researched and judged, and the level of precision prevention and control will be carried out. The specific epidemic prevention and control plan will be notified separately.


11. Expenses


(1) Athletes (teams) participating in the preliminaries will be arranged by the organizing committee for room and board, and the participating teams will be responsible for their own expenses.


(2) For the sports teams participating in the finals, except for the western region, the regular staff must pay 100 yuan/person/day for meals. During the period from the official registration of the athlete (team) to the time of departure, the organizing committee will arrange the board and lodging of the regular staff, and the athlete (team) will be responsible for the above expenses incurred at other times.


12. Other requirements


(1) Requirements for final costumes


1. Athletes wear formal clothes or clothes with the uniform logo of the participating team when they enter the game.


2. When participating teams attend the opening and closing ceremonies, award ceremonies and formal activities, they shall wear formal clothes or uniform formal clothes with the team logo.


(2) Teams must purchase personal accident insurance (including during the competition and on the way to and from the competition) and present it at the time of registration, otherwise they will not be allowed to participate in the competition.


(3) The team leader meeting is scheduled to be held one day before the competition, and each team must be attended by the leader or coach.
